Description
This beautiful handcrafted Assiniboin Spirit of the Bear Mask is a limited edition wall mount made by Creek Indian Artisan La Ne Ayo, Census Number 36597.This mask represents a Warrior who lived between 1800 and 1890s. His face paint was his signature, all could be identified from a great distance. The mask is paired with pelts, beads and feathers that would have been available in the area of North America where this man lived.
The Assiniboin tribes’ territory included Montana, North Dakota, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
The Spirit of the Bear was a Warrior Clan.
Anyone wearing a bear totem or symbol was a Medicine Man or Doctor – a very powerful healer.
The bear symbolizes a “good omen”.
