    Description

    Gourd is in wonderful condition,
about 8 x 8 inches. Please look at all pictures for more detail.
Bettelyoun grew up on the Pine Ridge Reservation in Washington, where his parents and grandparents taught him lessons of dignity and respect for the Earth that is Mother to all of us. When talking about growing up, he still considers these days the best of his life.
His family moved to California as part of the Indian Relocation Program, where he eventually settled in Acton, where he lives with his wife and granddaughter.
Bettelyoun was given his Indian name, Tezi Tunka (Big Belly), by his father, also an artist.
He believes change is necessary to live an interesting life and that the most valuable lessons come from observing nature.
Bettelyoun also believes in the old Lakota Indian way, that everything in creation is a great mystery and that we need not know everything.
This is expressed in his artwork and as you view this, it is his wish that you become aware of the energy that makes up your natural surroundings.
