    Description

I got this years ago – because I liked the image on it. I know very little about the history – my guess it iss a commemorative beer mug.
The image on the front says NAF SIGONELLA above an eagle flying over a smoking mountain. I have pieced the following together: NAF Sigonella stands for US NAVAL AIR FACILITY Sigonella that is located in Catania, Sicily. Actually the Italians own the Naval Air Station – the US is stationed there under the NATO pact. So based on this, I think the smoking mountain is MT Etna and the eagle is Navy squadron’s emblem.
It has a 1 L at the calibration line.
The bottom has some very faint writing – not etching - writing that says Made in Western Germany – I THINK! It is somewhat worn off.
I say I think it is a commemorative mug, because there is the number 69 below the handle – probably the year they were offered to the servicemen that were stationed there.
It is in good condition. I have probably had it 25+ years and never used it. Nothing indicates usage or wear – but I am sure it was.
There are some minor discoloration spots – they were there when I bought it.
    No cracks or chips.
    Approx:
    7-1/4” tall
    4” wide at the base
    3-1/2” wide at the mouth
