A Vintage Am. Indian "PAINTED DESERT SANDS" art crystal desk or table ornament in the form of a crystal sphere. Located in northern Arizona, a large portion of the Painted Desert lies within the Navajo Nation.
A continuous panorama of the desert landscape created by a Native Am. using locally sourced multi-colored sand to form in great detail, the peaks and valleys of the Painted Desert, below a pale blue sky with clouds. The flat top has an applied paper label. The base is flat with fabric for protection on a table.
Try to ignore the studio lights that reflect on the convex surface, always a devil to photograph. The condition, coloration and hues are excellent. There are no nicks, chips, nor cracks. Height is 5-1/2 in., diameter is 6 in.
The weight is 5 lbs. 3.2 oz.
